GAME TWO . VENEZUELA AT JAPAN

Carlos Carrasco was terrific as he outpitched Kenta Maeda and Venezuela forces a game three with a big 5-2 win over Japan.

Venezuela jumped on Maeda early and had a 3-0 lead. Carrasco cruised until late in the game when he needed bullpen help and Japan jumped on the bullpen. But Venezuela had too big of a lead and they cruise to a win to set up a final game for all the marbles.

VENEZUELA AT MEXICO

Andrelton Simmons had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Junior Guerra struck out 11 batters as the MEXICO MEXICO were badly beaten by the VENEZUELA VENEZUELA, 12 to 1. Simmons was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled scoring two baserunners in the 3rd inning, laced a single in the 5th inning, doubled plating three runs in the 6th inning and slapped a one-base hit in the 9th inning. VENEZUELA rapped out 14 hits for the afternoon. The victory went to Guerra(1-0) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Marco Estrada(0-1) was hit with the loss. VENEZUELA knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 4 innings. Guerra didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 11 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
