OCTOBER GAMES

Calgary 0 at LA 4. Dustin Brown scores twice and Jack Campbell picks up the shutout as the Kings shock the heavily favoured Flames

Washington 6 at NJ 1.  Washington had a strong showing away from home, Washington easily handled the Devils by a final score of 6 to 1. New Jersey was unable to get their power play going and finished 0 for 5 with the extra man. Washington quieted the crowd early, scoring 3 times in the first period. BRETT CONNOLLY scored twice for Washington. BRADEN HOLTBY was outstanding in goal. He made just one mistake while facing 38 shots. Others registering goals were ALEX OVECHKIN, T.J. OSHIE, JAKUB VRANA and JOHN CARLSON for Washington and MARCUS JOHANSSON for New Jersey.

Tampa 4 at Ottawa 3.  Tampa had to come from behind in this one after a slow start. But the LIghtning pulled it off with a late goal to win it 4-3 over a pesky Senators team.

Chicago 4 at St.Louis 9. In their home arena the Blues pounded the Black Hawks by a score of 9 to 4. The Blues registered 4 power play goals. St. Louis scored 5 goals in the second period. PATRICK KANE had two goals and added one assist for Chicago. And RYAN O’REILLY had two goals on 6 shots and contributed three assists for St. Louis. Also VINCE DUNN scored twice and passed for one assist. ALEX PIETRANGELO had a goal and passed for two assists. Others who scored were JONATHAN TOEWS and BRANDON SAAD for Chicago and TYLER BOZAK, JADEN SCHWARTZ, BRAYDEN SCHENN and PATRICK MAROON for St. Louis.

Buffalo 2 at Toronto 3. In their home arena the Maple Leafs squeezed out a victory over the Sabres by a final tally of 3 to 2. Toronto sustained a constant attack outshooting the Sabres 42 to 22. MITCH MARNER netted the last goal, the game winner, at 11:26 of the 3rd period. Others registering goals were CONOR SHEARY and MARCO SCANDELLA for Buffalo and AUSTON MATTHEWS and NAZEM KADRI for Toronto.

Anaheim 3 at Vegas 1.  John Gibson stole this game. Gibson stopped 7/7 goalie ratings and 44/45 shots as the Golden Knights go 0/4 o the powerplay in the first period alone as it was all John Gibson.

Philadelphia 1 at Pittsburgh 3.  In a very tight game, the Penguins defeated the Flyers by the final tally of 3 to 1. MATT MURRAY was outstanding in goal. He gave up just a lone goal while facing 37 shots. The goals were scored by JAKUB VORACEK for Philadelphia and PHIL KESSEL, EVGENI MALKIN and JAKE GUENTZEL for Pittsburgh.

Vancouver 1 at Arizona 5.  In front of a cheering crowd the Coyotes had no difficulty defeating the Canucks by a final score of 5 to 1. Vancouver was unable to get their power play going and finished 0 for 6 with the extra man. ALEX GALCHENYUK scored once and contributed two assists for Arizona. DARCY KUEMPER was outstanding in goal. He made just one mistake while facing 31 shots. Other goal scorers were BROCK BOESER for Vancouver and CONOR GARLAND, CLAYTON KELLER, DEREK STEPAN and RICHARD PANIK for Arizona.

Florida 4 at Montreal 2. Carey Price not his best as he stops just 4/7 goalie ratings as the Panthers beat the Habs in Montreal.

Boston 6 at Detroit 0.  Bruins dominate the Red Wings and win big in Detroit as Jonathan Bernier has an inascpicious start for the Red Wings.

Columbus 0 at Carolina 3.  Hurricanes get goals from three different players and Peter Mrazek was terrific in posting the shutout.

San Jose 1 at Edmonton 5. The Oilers shock the Sharks by scoring three times in the first as Martin Jones was not very good and got pulled (1/3 goalie ratings). Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had three goals to lead the OIlers.

Colorado 2 at Dallas 4 .  In a close game, the Stars won over the Avalanche by a score of 4 to 2. RADEK FAKSA scored the game winner at 6:12 of the 3rd period. Others who scored were GABRIEL LANDESKOG and ERIK JOHNSON for Colorado and TYLER SEGUIN, JAMIE BENN and TYLER PITLICK for Dallas.

Winnipeg 3 at Minnesota 4.  Jordan Greenway had a two goals and an assist and Devan Dubynk (8/10 gr stops) outplayed Connor Hellebuyck (3/7 gr)as the Wild steal one from the Jets.

 

NOVEMBER GAMES

Minnesota 3 at Nashville 2.  Minnesota had a 3-0 with three minutes to go before Nashville storms back with two quick goals. The visiting team from Minnesota won a close one against the Predators by a final tally of 3 to 2. MIKKO KOIVU netted the game winning goal at 16:19 of the 3rd period. Other goal scorers were ZACH PARISE and JASON ZUCKER for Minnesota and VIKTOR ARVIDSSON and NICK BONINO for Nashville.

Chicago  5 at Winnipeg 4 (overtime).  Patrick Kane scores a few minutes into overtime to give the Hawks the surprising win.  Cam Ward was terrific stopping 7/9 goalie ratings. Hellebucyk was just ok stopping just 1 of 4.

Edmonton 3 at Calgary  2.  The visitors from Edmonton squeezed out a victory over the Flames by a  final tally of 3 to 2. Edmonton sustained a constant attack outshooting the Flames 39 to 25. LEON DRAISAITL scored the game’s final goal at 7:26  of the 3rd period. Others registering goals were KYLE BRODZIAK and RYAN  NUGENT-HOPKINS for Edmonton and ELIAS LINDHOLM and T.J. BRODIE for Calgary.

Colorado 0 at St.Louis 7.  A dominating peformance the Blues hammered the Avalanche by a final score of 7 to 0. St. Louis scored 3 goals in the second period. The first goal was enough as ALEX PIETRANGELO scored 1:38 of the 1st period. RYAN O’REILLY found the net twice on 8 shots for St. Louis. And PIETRANGELO scored twice on 8 shots and passed for one assist. JAKE ALLEN was outstanding in goal. He was flawless in the shutout while facing 37 shots. Others registering goals were VLADIMIR TARASENKO, ALEX STEEN and IVAN BARBASHEV for St. Louis.

Anaheim 2 at San Jose 6.  San Jose dominates at home as John Gibson had a poor night. Sharks put in six to win this one easily at home.  

Vancouver 2 at Vegas 3.  In their home arena the Golden Knights won a close one against the Canucks by a final tally of 3 to 2. Goal scorers were SVEN BAERTSCHI and SAM GAGNER for Vancouver and CODY EAKIN, JONATHAN MARCHESSAULT and PIERRE-EDOUARD BELLEMARE for Vegas.

Los Angeles 3 at Arizona 4. In a tight hockey game the Arizona Coyotes defeated the LA kings  4-3 Shots were 32-29 Arizona and the Coyotes also had more goalie ratings 6-5. Keller, Garland, Dvorak, and Panik scored for the Coyotes. Pearson, D.Brown and Iafallo scored for the Kings . Three stars 1- Ekman Larsson (2 assists) 2- D.Brown (1g,1a) 3- Garland (1 goal , 3 shots 2 in range)

Detroit 4 at Tampa 5. Tampa Bay scores two late goals to tie it and then win it after it looked like the Red Wings were going to win this one.

Rangers 3 at Washington 4 (shootout). Washington scored twice in the late ten minute to tie, including Alex Ovechkin scoring with just 10 left in the game. Caps win it in the shootout when TJ Oshie was the only goal scorer.

Buffalo 1 at Boston 3. Buffalo outplayed the Bruins for most of the game, but the Bruins really turned things on in the last period when score was tied 1-1. But Brad Marchand scored two goals in the last the minutes of the game to rob the Sabres of a point.  Eichel and Bergeron scored the other goals as Ullmark and Rask battled it out in the nets.

 

 

 

Philadelphia 2 at NY Islanders 4.   Flyers had the lead early but a late comeback by the Islanders enabled them to pick up the win with two third period goals. Goal scorers wereVoracek, Provonov and for the Islanders
Barzal, .Cizikas , Eberle, and Nelson.   Hart played in net for the Flyers and Greiss for the Islanders. Shots were 35-16 New York.

Columbus 3 at Pittsburgh 2.  In a strong showing away from home, Columbus won by one goal over the Penguins by the final score of 3 to 2. Goal scorers were JOSH ANDERSON, PIERRE-LUC DUBOIS and ANTHONY DUCLAIR for Columbus and JAKE GUENTZEL and BRYAN RUST for Pittsburgh.

Florida 2 at Toronto 4. In a good matchup, the Maple Leafs defeated the Panthers by a final score of 4 to 2. ALEKSANDER BARKOV found the net twice for Florida. And AUSTON MATTHEWS contributed three assists for Toronto. Also JOHN TAVARES had two goals. TRAVIS DERMOTT had two goals.

New Jersey 3 at Carolina 2 (shootout).  The visiting team from New Jersey won a shootout against the Hurricanes by the final score of 3 to 2. The shootout’s game deciding goal was recorded by MARCUS JOHANSSON. The Devils was 1 for 8 in shootout attempts, while the Hurricanes went 0 for 8. Goals were registered by JESPER BRATT and NICO HISCHIER for New Jersey and SEBASTIAN AHO and GREG McKEGG for Carolina.

Ottawa 3 at Montreal 4 .  In front of a cheering crowd the Canadiens won a close one against the Senators by the score of 4 to 3. Montreal poured on the pressure outshooting the Senators 50 to 23. BRENDAN GALLAGHER scored the winning goal at 12:25 of the 3rd period. Others who scored were COLIN WHITE, CHRISTIAN WOLANIN and CODY CECI for Ottawa and JESPERI KOTKANIEMI, JOEL ARMIA and JEFF PETRY for Montreal.

DECEMBER GAMES

Tampa Bay 3 at Buffalo 5.  In a hard fought contest, the Sabres topped the Lightning by the final tally of 5 to 3. The Sabres had 3 power play goals. JACK EICHEL recorded the game winning goal at 4:29 of the 3rd period. JEFF SKINNER found the net twice on 6 shots and added two assists for Buffalo. And EICHEL scored once and added two assists. Other goal scorers were NIKITA KUCHEROV, BRAYDEN POINT and YANNI GOURDE for Tampa Bay and SAM REINHART and ZEMGUS GIRGENSONS for Buffalo.

Boston 6 at Florida 1.  In a strong showing away from home, Boston romped over the Panthers by a final score of 6 to 1. Boston was relentless outshooting the Panthers 47 to 22. Boston quieted the crowd early, scoring 3 times in the first
period. BRAD MARCHAND contributed three assists for Boston. Goal scorers were DAVID PASTRNAK, DAVID KREJCI, DAVID BACKES, SEAN KURALY, JOAKIM NORDSTROM and CHARLIE McAVOY for Boston and JONATHAN HUBERDEAU for Florida.

Washington 4 at Philadelphia 2.  In a close game, the Capitals topped the Flyers by the final tally of 4 to 2. Washington finished strong with 3 goals in the third period. EVGENY KUZNETSOV netted the game winning goal at 8:22 of the 3rd period. NICKLAS BACKSTROM scored once and added two assists for Washington. Other goal scorers were ALEX OVECHKIN and T.J. OSHIE for Washington and JAMES van RIEMSDYK and DALE WEISE for Philadelphia.

Toronto 4 at Ottawa 3.  The visiting team from Toronto won a close one against the Senators by the final score of 4 to 3. MITCH MARNER netted the last goal, the game winner, at 16:57 of the 3rd period. MARNER had two goals for Toronto. Other goal scorers were NAZEM KADRI and KASPERI KAPANEN for Toronto and MATT DUCHENE, RYAN DZINGEL and MIKKEL BOEDKER for Ottawa.

NY Islanders 3 at Columbus 4 (Shootout).    Columbus scores two goals in the last three minutes to force a tie with the tieing goal coming with Bobrovsky on the bench. On their home ice the Blue Jackets won a shootout against the Islanders by the score of 4 to 3. The shootout’s game deciding goal was scored by NICK FOLIGNO. The Blue Jackets was 2 for 3 in shootout attempts, while the Islanders went 1 for 3. Columbus finished with a flurry scoring 3 times in the third period. CASEY CIZIKAS scored twice for New York I. Others who scored were VALTTERI FILPPULA for New York I and CAM ATKINSON, OLIVER BJORKSTRAND and BOONE JENNER for Columbus.

Montreal 5 at Detroit 3.  Habs come back from a 2-0 first period deficit to score four times in the third period to win this one 5-3. D- Vanek, Anthanisou, Nyquist M- Petry, Lehkonen, Tatar, Gallagher, Weber

Pittsburgh 4 at New Jersey 1 . The visiting team from Pittsburgh had an easy win over the Devils by the final tally of 4 to 1. SIDNEY CROSBY scored one goal and added two assists for Pittsburgh. And JAKE GUENTZEL had two goals and passed for one assist. CASEY DeSMITH was outstanding in goal. He gave up just a lone goal while facing 28 shots. Others registering goals were EVGENI MALKIN for Pittsburgh and KYLE PALMIERI for New Jersey.

Carolina 0 at NY Rangers 2 .  A good matchup, the Rangers defeated the Hurricanes by the final tally of 2 to 0. The first goal was enough as PAVEL BUCHNEVICH found the back of the net at 18:12 of the 1st period. ALEXANDAR GEORGIEV was outstanding in goal. He stopped everything thrown his way for the shutout while facing 28 shots. A goal was also registered by FILIP CHYTIL for New York R.

Calgary 2 at Anaheim 3 .  Calgary outshot Anaheim 43-26 but Mike Smith was not his best in net for the Flames and John Gibson  was terrific.  In their home arena the Ducks won a close one against the Flames by the score of 3 to 2. Goals were registered by MATTHEW TKACHUK and OLIVER KYLINGTON for Calgary and ONDREJ KASE, ANDREW COGLIANO and CAM FOWLER for Anaheim.

Nashville 8 Chicago 4.  In a strong showing away from home, Nashville had an easy win over the Black Hawks by the final tally of 8 to 4. Nashville quieted the crowd early, scoring 4 times in the first period. FILIP FORSBERG scored twice
for Nashville. And ROCCO GRIMALDI scored twice. Also ROMAN JOSI had three assists. P.K. SUBBAN recorded four assists. DYLAN STROME scored twice and passed for one assist for Chicago. Others registering goals were VIKTOR ARVIDSSON, CALLE JARNKROK, MATTIAS EKHOLM and KEVIN FIALA for Nashville and PATRICK KANE and ALEX DeBRINCAT for Chicago.

Winnipeg 6 at Colorado 2.  The visiting team from Winnipeg had an easy win over the Avalanche by the final tally of 6 to 2. Winnipeg sustained a constant attack outshooting the Avalanche 39 to 24. This was a bit of a rough and tumble matchup, as the teams combined for 32 penalty minutes. MARK SCHEIFELE had a goal and passed for two assists for Winnipeg. And BLAKE WHEELER found the net twice and passed for one assist. Others registering goals were PATRIK
LAINE, NIKOLAJ EHLERS and TYLER MYERS for Winnipeg and MATT CALVERT and MATT NIETO for Colorado.

Dallas 2 at Minnesota 3 (OVERTIME).  In front of  a cheering crowd the Wild won a close one against the Stars by a final tally of 3 to 2. Minnesota sustained a constant attack outshooting the Stars 43 to 27. ZACH PARISE closed out the scoring with the game winner at 0:33 of overtime. Other goal scorers were ALEXANDER RADULOV and TYLER SEGUIN for Dallas and CHARLIE COYLE and JARED SPURGEON for Minnesota.

San Jose 4 at Vancouver 3 (OVERTIME) .  The visiting team from San Jose won a close one against the Canucks bythe score of 4 to 3. LOGAN COUTURE closed out the scoring with the game winner at 0:23 of overtime. TOMAS HERTL contributed three assists for San Jose. Other goal scorers were TIMO MEIER, JOE PAVELSKI and EVANDER KANE for San Jose and ELIAS PETTERSSON, JAKE VIRTANEN and CHRIS TANEV for Vancouver.

Vegas 2 at Los Angeles 3 .  In front of a cheering crowd the Kings won a close one against the Golden Knights by the final score of 3 to 2. KYLE CLIFFORD netted the game winning goal at 8:55 of the 3rd period. Others registering goals were CODY EAKIN and REILLY SMITH for Vegas and ILYA KOVALCHUK and ADRIAN KEMPE for Los Angeles.

Arizona 7 at Edmonton 0.  In a blowout the Coyotes hammered the Oilers by a score of 7 to 0. Arizona quieted the crowd early, scoring 3 times in the first period. The first goal was the winner as CLAYTON KELLER lit the lamp 6:03 of the 1st period. DARCY KUEMPER was outstanding in goal. He was flawless in the shutout while facing 43 shots. Others who scored were ALEX GALCHENYUK, CONOR GARLAND, BRAD RICHARDSON, JOSH ARCHIBALD, RICHARD PANIK and JASON DEMERS for Arizona.

JANUARY GAMES

Vancouver 3 at Calgary 4.  eir home arena the Flames squeezed out a victory over the Canucks by a final tally of 4 to 3. MARK JANKOWSKI netted the last goal, the game winner, at 19:21 of the 3rd period. Others who scored were ELIAS
PETTERSSON, BRANDON SUTTER and LOUI ERIKSSON for Vancouver and MIKAEL BACKLUND, ELIAS LINDHOLM and ANDREW MANGIAPANE for Calgary.

Florida 2 at Tampa 7.  In their home arena the Lightning romped over the Panthers by a score of 7 to 2. Tampa Bay finished with a flurry scoring 3 times in the third period. ANTHONY CIRELLI found the net twice and contributed one assist
for Tampa Bay. Others registering goals were JONATHAN HUBERDEAU and HENRIK BORGSTRÖM for Florida and NIKITA KUCHEROV, STEVEN STAMKOS, MATHIEU JOSEPH, ALEX KILLORN and RYAN McDONAGH for Tampa Bay.

Los Angeles 1 at San Jose 5.  In front of a cheering crowd the Sharks had no difficulty defeating the Kings by the final tally of 5 to 1. San Jose scored 3 goals in the second period. ERIK KARLSSON had three assists for San Jose. MARTIN JONES was outstanding in goal. He allowed just one goal while facing 29 shots. Goal scorers were ILYA KOVALCHUK for Los Angeles and TOMAS HERTL, KEVIN LABANC, LUKAS RADIL, JOONAS DONSKOI and MELKER KARLSSON for San Jose.

Edmonton 6 at Vegas 7 (OVERTIME).  On their home ice the Golden Knights won a close one against the Oilers by the score of 7 to 6. The game was all offense with the lamp being lit a total of 13 times. Vegas sustained a constant attack outshooting the Oilers 48 to 32. Vegas got going early, scoring 3 times in the first period. JONATHAN MARCHESSAULT scored the game’s final goal at 4:16 of overtime. LEON DRAISAITL came up big, he went for the hat-trick and passed for two assists for Edmonton. And RYAN NUGENT-HOPKINS scored twice and added three assists. Also MARCHESSAULT was dominating, scoring a hat-trick on 8 shots for Vegas. PAUL STASTNY had two goals and contributed two assists. ALEX TUCH scored once and passed for three assists. Other goal scorers were ALEX CHIASSON for Edmonton and OSCAR LINDBERG for Vegas.

Ottawa 4 at Boston 3.  The visiting team from Ottawa won a close one against the Bruins by the final score of 4 to 3. BRADY TKACHUK netted the winning goal at 7:21 of the 3rd period. MATT DUCHENE scored twice on 6 shots and contributed one assist for Ottawa. Others who scored were RUDOLFS BALCERS for Ottawa and JAKE DEBRUSK, DANTON HEINEN and DAVID BACKES for Boston.

Anaheim 0 at Arizona 1. In front of a cheering crowd the Coyotes won a close one against the Ducks by a final tally of 1 to 0. The defense for both squads was stout as the offenses struggled to score. NICK SCHMALTZ recorded the only goal of the game at 0:10 of the 2nd period. ANTTI RAANTA was outstanding in goal. He recorded the shutout while facing 43 shots.

Colorado 3  at Nashville 2 (OVERTIME) .  The visitors from Colorado won a close one against the Predators by the final score of 3 to 2. NATHAN MacKINNON netted the last goal, the game winner, at 1:05 of overtime. Other goal scorers were GABRIEL LANDESKOG and CARL SODERBERG for Colorado and NICK BONINO and COLTON SISSONS for Nashville.

Minnesota 4 at St.Louis 2.  In a close game, the Wild won over the Blues by the final tally of 4 to 2. Goals were registered by ZACH PARISE, MIKAEL GRANLUND, BRAD HUNT and NINO NIEDERREITER for Minnesota and VLADIMIR TARASENKO and RYAN O’REILLY for St. Louis. With the road victory Minnesota has now recorded 3 wins and 6 points for the season.

Chicago 0 at Dallas 2. In a close game, the Stars won over the Black Hawks by the final tally of 2 to 0. Dallas sustained a constant attack outshooting the Black Hawks 46 to 30. The game’s initial goal was sufficient as RADEK FAKSA lit the
lamp 7:55 of the 2nd period. BEN BISHOP was outstanding in goal. He was flawless in the shutout while facing 30 shots. A goal was also registered by TYLER PITLICK for Dallas.

Columbus 3 at Washington 2 (SHOOTOUT).  The visitors from Columbus prevailed in a shootout over the Capitals by a final tally of 3 to 2. The shootout’s game deciding goal was recorded by ARTEMI PANARIN. The Blue Jackets was 2 for 2 in shootout attempts, while the Capitals went 0 for 2. Columbus poured on the pressure outshooting the Capitals 47 to 29. Goal scorers were JOSH ANDERSON and BOONE JENNER for Columbus and ALEX OVECHKIN and BRETT CONNOLLY for Washington.

Detroit 2 at Toronto 3 (Overtime). In front of a cheering crowd the Maple Leafs squeezed out a victory over the Red Wings by the final score of 3 to 2. JOHN TAVARES scored the game’s final goal at 4:06 of overtime. TAVARES scored twice on 7 shots and contributed one assist for Toronto. And MORGAN RIELLY scored once on 6 shots and added two assists. Other goal scorers were ANTHONY MANTHA and THOMAS VANEK for Detroit.

Buffalo 3 at Montreal 2 (SHOOTOUT) . The team from Buffalo prevailed in a shootout over the Canadiens by the score of 3 to 2. The shootout’s game deciding goal was scored by KYLE OKPOSO. The Sabres was 2 for 3 in shootout attempts, while the Canadiens went 1 for 3. Goal scorers were JACK EICHEL and JAKE McCABE for Buffalo and BRENDAN GALLAGHER and MAX DOMI for Montreal.

New Jersey 2 at New York Islanders 4.   Thomas Greiss picks up the win as the Islanders defeat the Devils at home in a tight game.

NY Rangers 3 at Pittsburgh 2 (SHOOTOUT) .  The visiting team from New York R won a shootout against the Penguins by the final score of 3 to 2. The shootout’s game deciding goal was scored by JIMMY VESEY. The Rangers was 2 for 5 in shootout attempts, while the Penguins went 1 for 5. The goals were scored by CHRIS KREIDER and KEVIN SHATTENKIRK for New York R and PATRIC HORNQVIST and MATT CULLEN for Pittsburgh.

Philadelphia 0 at Carolina 3 .  In front of a cheering crowd the Hurricanes had an easy win over the Flyers by a final score of 3 to 0. The first goal was enough as LUCAS WALLMARK scored 10:44 of the 1st period. CURTIS McELHINNEY was outstanding in goal. He recorded the shutout while facing 27 shots. Other goal scorers were SEBASTIAN AHO and MICHEAL FERLAND for Carolina.

 

FEBRUARY GAMES

Last month before the trade deadline.

Toronto 2 at Tampa Bay 5.  On their home ice the Lightning had an easy win over the Maple Leafs by the final tally of 5 to 2. VICTOR HEDMAN scored twice on 7 shots and added one assist for Tampa Bay. Others who scored were AUSTON MATTHEWS and JOHN TAVARES for Toronto and NIKITA KUCHEROV, TYLER JOHNSON and RYAN CALLAHAN for Tampa Bay.

Montreal 1 at Boston 2 (Overtime) .   Boston scores in the last minute of hte agme to tie it with the goalie pulled and then put one in during Overtime to pick up the win in devastating style to Montreal.   In front of a cheering crowd the Bruins won by one goal over the Canadiens by the final score of 2 to 1. DAVID PASTRNAK netted the last goal, the game winner, at 2:53 of overtime. JAROSLAV HALAK was outstanding in goal. He made just one mistake while facing 37 shots. Other goal scorers were BRENDAN GALLAGHER for Montreal and PATRICE BERGERON for Boston.

Pittsburgh at Washington.

Detroit 3 at Florida 4 (OVERTIME).  On their home ice the Panthers won by one goal over the Red Wings by a final tally of 4 to 3. JONATHAN HUBERDEAU netted the last goal, the game winner, at 3:29 of overtime. MIKE MATHESON scored twice and contributed one assist for Florida. Other goal scorers were DYLAN LARKIN, GUSTAV NYQUIST and LUKE GLENDENING for Detroit and DRYDEN HUNT for Florida.

Ottawa 4 at Buffalo 2.  This was a hard fought contest, the Senators won over the Sabres by the final tally of 4 to 2. BOBBY RYAN recorded the game winner at 8:29 of the 3rd period. Other goal scorers were MARK STONE, BRADY TKACHUK and RYAN DZINGEL for Ottawa and JEFF SKINNER and KYLE OKPOSO for Buffalo.

Carolina 2 at NY Islanders 3.   Islanders built up a 2-0 first period lead and then had to hang on in the third period as they defeated the Hurricanes 3-2. Anders Lee led the Islanders attack with two goals including the game winner in the third period with the game tied at 2-2 on the powerplay.  Casey Cizikas scored the other goal. For the Hurricanes Svechnikov and Teravainen scored.

Rangers 2 at Columbus 6..Columbus blew the Rangers out of the water with a dominant effort. Blue Jackets were up 2-0 after one period, and 4-1 after two. Cam Atkinson got first star with two points and that included a pair of goals . Other goal scorers for the home team were Duclair, Panarin and Bjorkstrand with two. For the Rangers Chytil had a strong game and scored along with Zuccarello.

New Jersey 1 at Philadelphia 2.  Flyers get a late goal from Lindblom, an unlikely suspect and strong goaltending from Brian Elliot as they defeat the Devils 2-1 at home. Konecny had the other Flyers goal, Hirschier replied for the Devils.

Vegas 4 at Calgary 3.  Vegas took a 3-1 lead only to see the Flames tie it in the third period with a two goal comeback. But Jonathan Marchessault scored late on the powerplay to give the Golden Knights the big 4-3 road win. Scoring for Vegas was Karlsson, Schmidt and Lindbergh. For the Flames it was Monahan with two and Sam Bennett.

Arizona 4 at San Jose 3  (SHOOTOUT).  San Jose took a 2-0 lead on goals by Pavelski and Thornton in the first period only to see the Coyotes score twice in the second period to tie things up as Keller and Garland both found hte back of the twine.  Jeff Chychrun scored on the powerplay but Joe Pavelski tied things up late to force OT and a shootout. Coyotes score the only goal in the shootout and Arizona wins it 4-3.

Edmonton 2 at Vancouver 1.   Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins stake the OIlers to a 2-0 lead adn Koskinen was terrific as the OIlers defeat the Canucks. Ben Hutton replied for Vancouver. Jacob Markstrom kept things close for Vancouver stopping 10/11 goalie ratings as the Oilers soutshot the Canucks 35-32 and outchanced them 11-3.

Los Angeles 1 at Anaheim 4.  On their home ice the Ducks had an easy win over the Kings by a final score of 4 to 1. Anaheim finished with a flurry scoring 3 times in the third period. ADAM HENRIQUE netted the game winner at 9:04 of the 3rd period. HENRIQUE scored once and passed for three assists for Anaheim. And ONDREJ KASE scored twice on 6 shots and contributed one assist. Also NICK RITCHIE scored one goal and contributed three assists. A goal was also registered by PAUL LaDUE for Los Angeles.

St.Louis 4 at Nashville 0.  The visitors from St. Louis easily handled the Predators by a final score of 4 to 0. The first goal was the winner as ROBERT THOMAS lit the lamp 13:38 of the 1st period. JORDAN BINNINGTON was outstanding in goal. He recorded the shutout while facing 33 shots. Other goal scorers were ZACH SANFORD, PATRICK MAROON and ALEX PIETRANGELO for St. Louis.

Dallas 1 at Winnipeg 5.  On their home ice the Jets had no difficulty defeating the Stars by a final score of 5 to 1. Winnipeg finished with a flurry scoring 3 times in the third period. MARK SCHEIFELE found the net twice and contributed one assist for Winnipeg. And BLAKE WHEELER had three assists. LAURENT BROSSOIT was outstanding in goal. He made just one mistake while facing 36 shots. Other goal scorers were ANDREW COGLIANO for Dallas and NIKOLAJ EHLERS, ADAM LOWRY and JOSH MORRISSEY for Winnipeg.

Minnesota 4 at Colorado 3.  The visitors from Minnesota won a close one against the Avalanche by the final score of 4 to 3. MIKAEL GRANLUND scored the game’s final goal at 18:08 of the 3rd period. Other goal scorers were MATT DUMBA, MIKKO KOIVU and LUKE KUNIN for Minnesota and GABRIEL LANDESKOG, J.T. COMPHER and TYSON BARRIE for Colorado.

 

MARCH GAMES

Tampa Bay 4 at Montreal 1.  In a strong showing away from home, Tampa Bay easily handled the Canadiens by the final tally of 4 to 1. STEVEN STAMKOS scored twice on 7 shots and contributed two assists for Tampa Bay. And J.T. MILLER had a goal and contributed three assists. ANDREI VASILEVSKIY was outstanding in goal. He gave up just a lone goal while facing 43 shots. Others who scored were RYAN McDONAGH for Tampa Bay and JESPERI KOTKANIEMI for Montreal.

Florida 2 at Ottawa 1.  In a strong showing away from home, Florida won a close one against the Senators by a final tally of 2 to 1. FRANK VATRANO netted the winning goal at 5:02 of the 3rd period. VATRANO scored twice for Florida. JAMES REIMER was outstanding in goal. He gave up just a lone goal while facing 37 shots. A goal was also registered by THOMAS CHABOT for Ottawa.

Detroit 4 at Buffalo 1.  a strong showing away from home, Detroit had no difficulty defeating the Sabres by a final score of 4 to 1. JIMMY HOWARD was outstanding in goal. He allowed just one goal while facing 31 shots. The goals were scored by ANDREAS ATHANASIOU, ANTHONY MANTHA, LUKE GLENDENING and NIKLAS KRONWALL for Detroit and CONOR SHEARY for Buffalo.

Washington 3 at Carolina 4 (so).  On their home ice the Hurricanes won a shootout against the Capitals by the score of 4 to 3. The shootout’s game deciding goal was recorded by SEBASTIAN AHO. The Hurricanes was 2 for 2 in shootout attempts, while the Capitals went 0 for 2. Goal scorers were ALEX OVECHKIN, JAKUB VRANA and LARS ELLER for Washington and JUSTIN WILLIAMS, JACCOB SLAVIN and SAKU MAENALANEN for Carolina.
