#2 Islanders 1 Ottawa 3. Fisher, Arvedson and Hossa each scored to lead the Sens over the Islanders to tie the series at a game a piece. Ottawa badly outshot the Islanders 34-21.
#3 Ottawa 3 Islanders 0. Phillips, Smolinski and Spezza each scored and Patrick Lalime stopped 35 (5/5 gr) shots to lead Ottawa to victory.
#4 Ottawa 7 Islanders 0. Martin Havlat and Mike Fisher each had two goals, and Daniel Alfredsson had a gola and two assists to lead the Senators over New York. Patrick Lalime stopped 25 shots (6/6 gr) for his second consecutive shutout.

#1. Edmonton 2 at Dallas 5 
#2 Edmonton 3 at Dallas 2 (overtime) Ryan Smyth scores on the powerplay 18 seconds into overtime to give the Oilers a big 3-2 win to tie the series at one game a piece. Jussi Markannen took over for Tommy Salo and stopped 7/9 goalie ratings. as the Oilers were outshot 31-24.
#3. Dallas 4 at Edmonton 1 Dallas got goals from three lines as Morrow, Lehtinen, Guerin and Dahlen each scored as the Stars regain home ice advantage. Markkanen was less than good stopping only 3/7 goalie ratings.
Dallas 2 at Edmonton 0. Dallas got goals from Bill Guerin on the powerplay and Jason Arnott early in the second period to defeat the Oilers and win the series. Marty Turco was the first star of this hockey game stopping 31 shots (all 7 goalie ratings) in leading his club to the conference final.
Dallas Stars win the best of five series 3-2.


#1. Anaheim 4 Detroit 3 (double overtime). Paul Kariya scores his second goal of the game at 8:10 of 2 ot as the Ducks beat the Wings. #2. Anaheim 5 at Detroit 3. JS Giguere stopped 10/12 goalie ratings as the Ducks surprise everyone and win game two. Brett Hull had two goals in a losing cause for the Wings.
#3. Detroit 1 at Anaheim 2. Chistov and Pahlsson each scored and the Ducks held on to wing game three and the series.
Anaheim Mighty Ducks win the best of five series 3-0.

#2 Minnesota 2 Colorado 1

#5. Minnesota 1 at Colorado 2. Milan Hejduk scores two late third period goals to give the Avs the series win. It looked like Minnesota was going to upset the Avalanche just like the real NHL playoffs before the back to back goals by Hejduk.
Colorado Avalanche win the best of five series 3-2.

ROUND TWO



#1. Tampa Bay 0 Devils 1 . Jay Pandolfo had the only goal of the game, and Martin Brodeuer turned aside all 20 shots he faced as the Devils badly outshot the Lightning 49-20 (7-3 gr).
#2. Tampa Bay 2 Devils 3 (overtime) . Tampa comes out with a much better effort and outshoots the Devils 36-28. But Joe Nieuwendyk ties the game on the powerplay with just over 10 minutes left to play, and Patrick Elias wins it 30 seconds into overtime.
#3. New Jersey 8 at Tampa Bay 3 . New Jersey got 8 goals from 8 different players to sweep the Lightning and advance to the Eastern Conference final versus Ottawa.
Ottawa wins the best of five series 3-0


#1. Toronto 4 Ottawa 5 (double overtime) . Bryan Smolinski scored at 12:54 of double overtime to give the Sens game one. Toronto jumped out to a 2-0 lead only to see Ottawa storm back to make it 4-2. But the Leafs scored two lates goals to tie it. Goal scorers were: 1. TOR. GARY ROBERTS(1) 2. TOR. NIK ANTROPOV(1) 3. OTT. DANIEL ALFREDSSON(2) 4. OTT. MARTIN HAVLAT(3) 5. OTT. MIKE FISHER(4) 6. OTT. PETR SCHASTLIVY(1) 7. TOR. MIKAEL RENBERG(2)( 8. TOR. BRYAN McCABE(2) 9. OTT. BRYAN SMOLINSKI(3)( SHAUN VAN ALLEN, MIKE FISHER ): 2OT 12:54
#2. Toronto 4 Ottawa 3 . This game was tied 2-2 late in the third period before Tomas Kaberle scored with just 2:55 left to give the Leafs an apparent 3-2 win. But Gary Roberts and Wade Redden also scored in the last three minutes and the Leafs win it 4-3.
#3 Ottawa 5 Toronto 1 . Martin Havlat (2g 1a) and Daniel Alfredsson (1 g 2 a) each had three points as the Leafs were defeated by Ottawa. Ottawa outshot Toronto 37-30 but Patrick Lalime was outstanding stopping 7/8 goalie ratings.
#4 Ottawa 2 Toronto 1 . Martin Havlat scored both Ottawa goals on the powerplay and the Ottawa Senators went on to defeat the Leafs 2-1. Patrick Lalime was solid in net stopping 26 shots (3/3 gr).
Ottawa Senators defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1


#1 Anaheim 2 Dallas 1. Steve Thomas and Sami Pahlsson scored in the first period and the Mighty Ducks rode the goaltending of JS Giguere (26 saves 5/6 on gr) to win game one.
#2 Anaheim 5 at Dallas 4 . Marty Turco was hurt early in the first period and Anaheim scored four goals on replacement Ron Tugnutt (1/4 gr saves). Anaheim built up a 5-1 lead only to see Dallas come back in the third period to make it close. Steve Thomas led the Anaheim attack with 2 goals and Mike Modano had a goal and 3 assists for Dallas.
#3 Dallas 2 at Anaheim 1. Bill Guerin scores with just under two minutes left on a breakaway to give the Dallas Stars a huge 2-1 win. Scott Young and Peter Sykora scored the other goals. Anaheim outshot Dallas 34-31 but JG Giguere was huge in the Ducks net stopping 5/6 gr. Turco stopped 3/3 for Dallas.
#3 Dallas 2 at Anaheim 1. (overtime) . Mike Modano scores at 3:23 of overtime to force a fifth and deciding game. Dallas dominated Anaheim outshooting them 31-19 but Martin Gerber stood his ground making 29 saves (3/5 gr). Niko Kapanen scored the other Dallas goal and Paul Kariya scored for Anaheim. Marty Turco was solid in net for Dallas stopping 18 shots (3/4 gr).
#5 Anaheim 2 at Dallas 3. Mike Modano scores the game winner and his second goal on the powerplay at 9:24 of the third period as the Dallas Stars defeat the Ducks 3-2. Marty Turco was superb stopping 8/9 goalie ratings as the Stars were outshot 33-29.

Dallas wins the best of five series 3-2


#1 St.Louis 1 Colorado 2. Adam Foote was hauled down by Barrett Jackman at 19:13 of the third period of a 1-1 tie. Foote was awarded a penalty shot, and he scored on Chris Osgood to give the Avalanche a big 2-1 come from behind win.
#2 St.Louis 3 at Colorado 4 (overtime) 
Joe Sakic scores his third goal of the game at 6:09 of overtime as the Colorado Avalanche come back from a 2-0 deficit to win game two 4-3. Al MacInnis had a goal and an assist for St.Louis. Stephen Reinprecht had 3 assists for Colorado.
#3. Colorado 4at St.Louis 3 (overtime). . Adam Foote scores at 3:19 of overtime to give Colorado the series win. Foote earned the first star, as not only did he have the game winner, but also chipped in an assist. Al MacInnis had a goal and an assist for the Blues. The goaltending was very even as both Chris Osgood and Patrick Roy each stopped 7/10 goalie ratings.
Colorado wins the best of five series 3-0



CONFERENCE FINALS



#1 Colorado 0 at Dallas 6
Jere Lehtinen scored two goals as Dallas dominated this one from start to finish. The Stars outshot the Avalanche 40-27.

#2. Colorado 2 at Dallas 3 (2 OT)
In a penalty filled game Jere Lehtinen scores at 2:12 of double overtime to give the Stars a big win and a 2-0 series lead. Dallas was 1/12 on the powerplay and Colorado was 0/7. Patrick Roy was superb despite the loss as he stopped 45 shots (9/11 on gr). Marty Turco had 36 shots (4/6 goalie ratings).

#3 Dallas 3 at Colorado 1
. All four goals in this game came on the powerplay. Bill Guerin scored twice on the powerplay to lead Dallas to a big 3-1 win and a 3-0 series sweep of Colorado. Dallas was 3/7 on the powerplay (Colorado 1/4 on pp) as Colorado outshot Dallas 27-26. Marty Turco was sharp stopping all 6 goalie ratings. Patrick Roy stopped 7/10.

#1 New Jersey 3 at Ottawa 4 
Marian Hossa scores his second goal of the game 4:22 into overtime on the powerplay as the Senators win game one. Martin Brodeur was outstanding for NJ stopping 40 shots and 8/10 goalie ratings.

#2 New Jersey 2 at Ottawa 1. Martin Brodeur was the star on this night stopping 32 shots (8/9 goalie ratings) was the NJ Devils get a split in Ottawa. John Madden (1g 1a) and Jay Pandolfo (2a) each had two points for the Devils. Lalime was solid in net for Ottawa stopping 27 shots (5/6 gr).

#3. Ottawa 4 at New Jersey 2 
Jamie Langenbrunner was out with an injury and the Senators took advantage. Marian Hossa scores three goals to lead the Senators to a big 4-2 win. Ottawa outshot the Devils 42-20.

#4. Ottawa 1 at New Jersey 4
. The Devils scored quick and early. NJ had 3 first period goals and rode that to a decisive 4-1 win. Pandolfo, Gomez, Elias and Madden scored for the Devils as they outshot the visitors 36-25.
#5 New Jersey 7 at Ottawa 2 
Ottawa took penalty after penalty early in the game and the Devils scored 2 powerplay goals early, and added two more later to take a commanding lead. Things just fell apart for the Senators after that. NJ finished 3/9 on the powerplay. Ottawa was 2/3 with both pp goals coming in the third period after they were down 5-0. John Madden led the attack with 2 goals and 3 assists. Patrick Elias chipped in two goals.

New Jersey wins the best of five series 3-2



STANLEY CUP FINALS


#1 New Jersey 1 at Dallas 2. Mike Modano scored with only 5 seconds left in the game to give the Stars a big 2-1 win in game one. Martin Broduer was superb taking 35 shots and stopping 9/10 goalie ratings. Marty Turco was far less busy seeing only 28 shots and stopping 1/2 goalie ratings.

#2 New Jersey 2 at Dallas 3 – Overtime Sergei Zubov scored 30 seconds into overtime after Mike Langenbrunner had scored a goal with their goalie pulled in an exciting game two. The Stars outshot the Devils 45-34 but Marty Turco was superb stopping all 6 in range shots. Martin Brodeur stopped 5 of 7 for the Devils.

#1. Rangers 2 at Chicago 3. Alexei Zhamnov scored with 53 seconds left in the game on the powerplay to give the Chicago Black Hawks a big 3-2 win in game one. Sullivan and Calder also scored for Chicago. Pavel Bure and Alexei Kovalev scored for the Rangers
#2. NY Rangers 2 at Chicago 7. Kyle Calder and Theo Fluery each had two goals to lead the Hawks to a big win over the Rangers. Calder finished with 3 points, Fluery 4 points, and Zhamnov with 4 points (4a).Pavel Bure had a pair for the Rangers.
#3 Chicago 2 at Rangers 5. Alexei Kovalev combined on a new line with Mark Messier and Kovalev registered a hat trick to lead the Rangers to a big win over Chicago. Messier had two assists.
#4 Chicago 0 at Rangers 5. Pavel Bure combined with Eric Lindros to be the scoring force this night. Bure had two goals and the Rangers easily won 5-0. Mike Dunham had the shutout. Eric Lindros chipped in 2 assists and Bobby Holik had a goal and an assist. Rangers outshot Chicago 49-19.
#5. Rangers 5 at Chicago 2. Anson Carter had two goals, and Eric Lindros and Alexei Kovalev each chipped in a goal and an assist for the Rangers. Tyler Arnason had two goals for the Hawks.
Rangers win best of five series 3-2

#1. Phoenix 6 at Los Angeles 2 . Chris Gratton (2 goals) and Shane Doan (1 goal) each had three points as the Coyotes jumped all over starter Jamie Storr. Sean Burke was outstanding in the Coyotes net stopping 34 shots and all 11 goalie ratings. Wow!
#2. Phoenix 3 at Los Angeles 2 – overtime Phoenix gets an overtime goal by Mike Johnson to take game two. Shane Doan again was the offensive leader with two goals. Adam Deadmarsh had both of the Kings goals. Coyotes Sean Burke again was a stud stopping 11/13 goalie ratings.
Los Angeles 3 at Phoenix 4 . Sean Burke was again the story. The Coyotes were outshot 42-29, but Burke stopped 39 shots and 3/5 gr. Jason Allison and Daymond Langkow each had a pair of goals for their teams.
Phoenix wins the best of five series 3-0

#1. Calgary 3 at Montreal 6 Richard Zednik (2g) and Saku Koivu (1g)each had three points lead the Habs to a 6-3 win in game one. Andreas Dackell of Montreal also chipped in a goal and an assist. Craig Conroy had a goal and an assist for the Flames.
#2. Calgary 2 at Montreal 4 . Chris Drury and Richard Zednik each had two goals as the Habs beat the Flames in game two.

#1. Nashville 0 at Atlanta 4. Nashville had tons of opportunities to score but they could not beat Pasi Nurminen. Nurminen stopped 34 shots (7/7 gr) as the Predators outshot the home squad 34-32. Tapper, Heatley, M.Savard, and Slava Kozlov each scored for the Thrashers.
#2. Nashville 2 at Atlanta 3 Danny Heatley scored twice and linemate Mark Savard had the other as the Thrashers take game two. Heatley finished with three points and scored the game winner with only 45 seconds left on the powerplay.
#3. Atlanta 5 Nashville 2 Lubos Bartecko had a hat trick for the visitors as the Thrashers sweep the Predators. Slava Kozlov had 1g 1a for the visitors and both Heatley and Kovalchuk had two assists.
Atlanta Thrashers win the best of five series 3-0.

#2. Columbus 2 at Florida 5
#3. Florida 4 at Columbus 3

. Huseluis, Matteau and Hagman each scored for the Panthers as they win game four and the series. Ray Whitney and Rick Nash replied for Columbus. Each team had 25 shots. Roberto Luongo stopped 7/9 goalie ratings and Marc Denis 3/4 for Columbus.
Florida wins the best of five series 3-1.
