Atlanta does not close it out and now has a 2-1 lead in the best of five series.

Atlanta Braves in 11 innings 3 to 1 at Fulton Co Stadium.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. New York came out
the victor in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Wally Backman
initiated the scoring spurt when he reached on an error. Backman got a good
lead and stole second. Hernandez then tripled knocking in a run. George
Foster was up next and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the
inning. New York finished with just 6 hits in the victory.

The win was credited to Tom Gorman(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no

tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
