CSHL. Opening Night in Vancouver against Boston

The expansion Vancouver Canucks open up their CSHL regular season against expansion rival , the Boston Bruins
The Canucks got things going early when Boone Jenner scored just 1:27 into the hockey game. But the Bruins came back right away when Andreas Athanasiou replied for the visitors. Canucks score midway though the first period when Mike Zibanejad scores his first of the year from Devin Shore. But the Bruins reply on the powerplay when Kyle Turris scores and we end the first period tied at 2-2. Shots even at 13-13 as these teams are very evenly matched.

Vancouver just back out in front when first overall pick Clayton Keller scores midway through the second period and Chris Kreider adds another in the same period as the Canucks led 4-2 after two periods. Riley Sheahan adds a third period goal and Ben Bishop was solid from that point out as the Canucks win their first ever game in the CSHL 5-2 over their expansion cousins.

Dmitri Orlov picked up first star with two assists, Chris Kreider and linemate Boone Jenner also had two points (1g,1a).

GAME STORY
In front of a cheering crowd Vancouver had no difficulty defeating Boston
by a final score of 5 to 2. Goal scorers were KYLE TURRIS and ANDREAS
ATHANASIOU for Boston and MIKA ZIBANEJAD, CHRIS KREIDER, CLAYTON KELLER,
RILEY SHEAHAN and BOONE JENNER for Vancouver.

Game 5. Dodgers at Cubbies

Cubbies win the series in five games. All their wins came at Wrigley Field, what a roller
coaster of a ride.

Jon Lester mowed down 11 Los Angeles(NL) batters at Wrigley Field as the
Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the count of 3 to
0.

Lester(2-0) put on a good performance. He gave up just 6 hits and 2 walks in
7 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA to 2.37. Lester was helped out by Wade
Davis who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 4th save.

Rich Hill(1-2) was tagged with the loss. Although losing the contest, he
whiffed 11 batters in 6 and 1/3 innings. The Chicago (NL) fans were thrilled
by the performance put forth by Lester, but it was clearly his strikeouts
that they enjoyed most. ‘When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him
their appreciation with a loud cheer.’ Joe Maddon said following the game.
