ALCS – BALTIMORE AT CLEVELAND

Game 1. Baltimore surprisingly jumps all over Corey Kluber and Allen Miller and comes up with a big 9-5 win in game one of the series. hris Davis smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Baltimore Orioles outscored the Cleveland Indians 9 to 5. Baltimore came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 4 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Davis who quieted the home crowd when he cracked a two-run shot. Cleveland was out-hit
by Baltimore, 17 hits to 6. Tommy Hunter(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no runs. Bryan Shaw(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.

GAme 2. Baltimore 1 at Cleveland 4 At Progressive Field the Cleveland Indians outscored the Baltimore Orioles 4
to 1.

Carlos Carrasco(3-2) had a solid outing for Cleveland. He went 6 and 2/3
innings surrendering 4 hits and 3 walks. Carrasco chalked up 8 strikeouts
seeing his ERA drop from 3.41 to 3.03. Cleveland managed only 6 hits on the
night.

Cody Allen recorded his 4th save. Chris Tillman(2-1) ended up with the loss.
Despite the loss, he struckout 9 Cleveland batters in 5 and 1/3 innings.

#3. Cleveland 4 at Baltimore 6 . Zach Britton was great in relief as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the
Cleveland Indians by a score of 6 to 4 at Camden Yards. Baltimore wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
tallied 4 runs on 5 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Adam Jones who brought the crowd to their feet when he smacked a three-run homer. The
pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again. The victory was credited to Tommy Hunter(3-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Hunter got relief help from Britton who gained credit for his 6th save. The loss was charged to Danny Salazar(0-2).

#4. Cleveland 5 at Baltimore 1. Corey Kluber tossed a complete game at Camden Yards where the Cleveland
Indians beat the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 5 to 1.

Kluber(4-1) had a strong outing. He allowed only 5 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings dropping his ERA from 2.89 to 2.53. Cleveland managed only 6 hits on
the night.

The loss was charged to Yovani Gallardo(0-2). He struggled with his control
issuing 8 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. With this win, Cleveland has a 10-7
record. They have been 6-4 lately. With the loss Baltimore now has a record
of 9-5.

#5. Cleveland 2 at Baltimore 1 .
At Camden Yards, the Baltimore fans witnessed a great pitcher’s duel. Danny
Salazar(1-2) finally bested his Baltimore opposite, Kevin Gausman(2-2), by
the score of 2 to 1.

In the top of the 2nd inning Cleveland went on top for good scoring one runner
on 2 base hits. Baltimore had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Cody Allen got the save, his 5th. Gausman was the losing pitcher. ‘We just
made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,’ Buck Showalter said. ‘It’s bad
enough when the other team beats you, but when you start beating yourselves,
that’s really bad.’

#6. Baltimore 2 at Cleveland 5. Carlos Carrasco pitched 8 and one third strong innings as the Cleveland
Indians defeated the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 5 to 2 at Progressive
Field.

Cleveland brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning.
The biggest moment was provided by Mike Napoli who made the Cleveland fans a
happy lot when he blasted a two-run home run. Cleveland out-hit Baltimore
for the game, 11 hits to 3.

The win was credited to Carrasco(4-2) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Cody Allen recorded the save, his 6th. Chris Tillman(2-2) took the
loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.

CLEVELAND WINS THE BEST OF SEVEN AMERICAN LEAGUE SERIES 4-2.


NLCS
#1. Cubs 3 at Washington 2 Jon Lester pitched 8 strong innings at Nationals Park where the Chicago (NL)
Cubs beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 3 to 2.

Lester(2-2) gave Chicago (NL) a solid outing. He allowed just 2 hits and 3
walks in 8 innings. Lester whiffed an impressive total of 9 Washington
batters. Washington threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Aroldis Chapman preserved the game for Lester, recording his his 5th save. Max
Scherzer(2-1) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 6 hits and 3 walks in 7
and 1/3 innings.

#2. Cubs 2 at Nationals 3. The Washington Nationals nipped the Chicago (NL) Cubs 3 to 2 at Nationals Park
in a hard fought contest.

Washington scored 2 runs in the decisive bottom of the 4th inning. Chicago
(NL) tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Tanner Roark(4-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Mark Melancon was
credited with his 3rd save. Jake Arrieta(2-2) was charged with the loss.

Joe Maddon was subdued after the ballgame, ‘That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!’

#3. Washington 5 at the Cubs 2.
Gio Gonzalez mowed down 10 Chicago (NL) batters at Wrigley Field where the
Washington Nationals beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs 5 to 2.

Gonzalez(1-1) pitched a solid game. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 6 and
2/3 innings dropping his ERA from 3.46 to 3.20. Washington managed 7 hits in
their victory.

Kyle Hendricks(2-1) was the loser. Gonzalez was pleased with his performance.
He noted, ‘I had good command of all my pitches. Just as important, my
location was right on.’

#4. Washington 4 at Chicago Cubs 5. Series now tied 2-2.
One run was the difference at Wrigley Field as the Chicago (NL) Cubs defeated
the Washington Nationals 5 to 4.

Chicago (NL) promptly took the lead in their half of the first as they scored
3 runs on 2 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Kris Bryant who
elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run. Washington tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Jon Lester(3-2) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Aroldis
Chapman recorded the save, his 6th. Max Scherzer(2-2) ended up with the
loss.

Wth the win Chicago (NL) now has a record of a division leading 10-5.
Washington has a record of 11-4 after the loss.

#5. Washington 4 at Chicago Cubs 6. Kris Bryant blasted 2 homeruns at Wrigley Field where the Chicago (NL) Cubs
beat the Washington Nationals 6 to 4.

John Lackey(2-0) pitched a fine game. He was reached for 3 hits and no walks
in 5 and 1/3 innings. Lackey recorded 6 strikeouts reducing his ERA from
3.29 to 2.84. Overall Chicago (NL) out-hit Washington 9 to 6.

Lackey got help from Aroldis Chapman who was credited with his 7th save.
Tanner Roark(4-1) was the losing pitcher. Wth the win Chicago (NL) now has a
record of a division leading 11-5. With the loss, Washington has a record of
5-5 lately, 11-5 overall.

#6. Chicago Cubs 2 at Washington 6.

Stephen Strasburg had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Washington Nationals
defeated the Chicago (NL) Cubs 6 to 2 at Nationals Park.

Strasburg(2-0) pitched a solid game. He surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks in 6
and 2/3 innings. Strasburg recorded 9 strikeouts. Washington had 8 hits for
the game and Chicago (NL) had 3.

Mike Montgomery(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He allowed Washington 5
runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of work.

#7. Chicago Cubs 6 at Washington 5. (11 innings)

Kris Bryant jacked one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI at Nationals Park
where the Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Washington Nationals in 11 innings 6 to
5.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Chicago (NL) was
victorious in the 11th inning. Jorge Soler drew a walk. Dexter Fowler was
next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Ben Zobrist got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim. Bryant came up and he drew a walk.
Anthony Rizzo came to the plate and doubled scoring the run. The Washington
batters went down meekly in the bottom of the 11th.

Carl Edwards Jr(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Edwards
Jr got help from Aroldis Chapman who earned his 8th save. Marc
Rzepczynski(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.

The Chicago (NL) ballclub’s record now stands at a division leading 12-6.
With the loss Washington now has a record of 12-6.



STRAT WORLD SERIES FINAL . CLEVELAND AT CHICAGO CUBS
#1. CLEVELAND 1 AT CHICAGO CUBS 4.
In a good matchup it was the Chicago (NL) Cubs 4, the Cleveland Indians 1 at
Wrigley Field.

Cleveland never recovered after Chicago (NL) took the lead in the bottom of
the 4th inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. Both teams totaled 6
hits on the afternoon.

Kyle Hendricks(3-1) got the win allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Aroldis Chapman
preserved the game for Hendricks, recording his his 9th save. Corey
Kluber(4-2) was given the loss. Despite losing, he struckout 12 Chicago (NL)
batters in 7 innings.

#2. CLEVELAND 7 AT CHICAGO 0.

Carlos Carrasco shut down the Chicago (NL) batters on just 1 hit at Wrigley
Field as the Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the count of 7
to 0.

Carrasco(5-2) dominated Chicago (NL) hitters. He allowed only 1 hit and 3
walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 2.86 to 2.38. Cleveland rapped out
12 hits for the afternoon.

John Lackey(2-1) was charged with the loss. While he was the losing pitcher,
he still struck out 7 batters in 4 and 1/3 innings.

‘He came out with good stuff,’ Terry Francona said about Carrasco. ‘He threw
the ball good from the first pitch on.’

#3. Cubs 8 at Indians 6.
In a good matchup it was the Chicago (NL) Cubs 8, the Cleveland Indians 6 at
Progressive Field.

Jon Lester(4-2) had a fairly solid outing. He went 5 and 1/3 innings
surrendering 5 hits and 2 walks. Lester chalked up 6 strikeouts. Chicago
(NL) ended up with 11 hits for the game while Cleveland had 6.

Aroldis Chapman earned his 10th save. The losing pitcher was Danny
Salazar(1-3). He struck out 9 batters in 5 innings despite losing the game.

#4. Chicago 5 at Cleveland 4 . Cubs now lead series 3-1.
33,515 fans watched an exciting game at Progressive Field. The Chicago (NL)
Cubs topped the Cleveland Indians by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

The game was won by Chicago (NL) with a run in the 9th inning. After an out
was recorded, Kris Bryant smashed a solo-shot out of the park. Chicago (NL)
had 8 hits for the night.

Pedro Strop(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Strop got help from Hector Rondon who earned his 4th save. Andrew
Miller(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief.

Chicago (NL) now has a record of a division leading 15-7. With the loss
Cleveland now has a record of 13-10.

#5. Chicago 5 at Cleveland 6.
With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
Cleveland Indians rallied to top Chicago (NL) Cubs by the score of 6 to
5.

Cleveland scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs utilizing 3 base hits. Brandon Guyer led off and started the rally when
he doubled. Abraham Almonte struck out, unable to help the rally. Marlon
Byrd then doubled scoring a single run. Jason Kipnis stepped in and he
slapped a one-base hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for Cleveland and
the 35,052 home town fans in attendance. A wild and woolly affair, this game
saw the lead change 5 times.

The winning pitcher was Cody Allen(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Aroldis Chapman(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. Terry
Francona was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked
about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered,
‘I’ll tell you this much – I know how my counterpart, Joe Maddon, feels right
now – and it’s not very good. It’s terrible when you come up on the short
end of one of these!’

#6. Cleveland 2 at Chicago 0.

Carlos Carrasco(6-2) and John Lackey(2-2) locked horns in a pitcher’s duel
with Carrasco and the Cleveland Indians coming out on top of the Chicago (NL)
Cubs 2 to 0.

In the 4th inning Cleveland scored 2 runs. The pitchers took over after the
4th inning as neither team was able to score again.

Cody Allen preserved the game for Carrasco, recording his his 7th save. With
this win, Cleveland has a 15-10 record. They have been 6-4 lately. With the
loss, Chicago (NL) has a record of 6-4 lately, 15-9 overall.

Game 7. Series tied 3-3. Cleveland 1 at Chicago Cubs 4.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo slammed a homerun at Wrigley Field as the Chicago
(NL) Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 4 to 1.

Cleveland was unable to climb back into it after Chicago (NL) went ahead for
good in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. The early run support
proved sufficient for Jon Lester(5-2) and Chicago (NL). That was all the run
support Lester required. Both teams totaled 9 hits on the night.

Aroldis Chapman preserved the game for Lester, recording his his 11th save.
The losing pitcher was Danny Salazar(1-4). He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings
allowing 5 hits and 2 walks.
